September & October 2002 : 14 to 16 months   Download times...
These two months were busy ones. We had a week's break in Portugal, staying with our friends Jo & James Groombridge again. The weather was beautiful and warm, and Raffy was old enough to have his first real paddle in the sea. We also had a few family gatherings with the Horton clan, and it was great to see all the new generation together (my nan now has four great-grandchildren) again. Raffy is becoming bigger and stronger all the time, and now runs, jumps and climbs everything he can. Interesting times ahead!   Please note that in order to present large, high-quality pictures, this page may take almost a minute to download completely. The first few pictures will be visible quickly, but please have patience with the rest!

Raffy & Dan on Cascais beach
On holiday in Portugal: Dan and Rafferty on the beach in Cascais. Rafferty's first time paddling in the sea...
  Vanessa & Raffy
Vanessa and the boy in Cascais at the end of a long day on the beach. Many sandcastles were built and knocked down that day!

Dr Rafferty Horton-Szar?
Playing with Oliver's doctoring set in Portugal... could this be the shape of things to come? No, don't do it! Be a dentist instead - they earn more!
  Running around...
Running around in the park, just down the road from the Groombridges' house in Cascais. Raffy is fourteen months old here.

David Horton, Dan and Raffy
My uncle David's 60th birthday celebration in September: we all drove up to Hagley in the Worcestershire for the day and a jolly good time was had by all.

Skateboarding in Whitstable
A seaside walk in Whitstable, in October. Some lads were skateboarding and offered Raffy a go on one of their boards...
On a rope bridge with Dan
The same day, we visited Druidstone park near Canterbury. Lots of animals and other fun things, like this rope bridge.

Dan & Raffy in Whitstable
Raffy and I on the beach in Whitstable, on a windy October morning.
Playing football at Rob & Maggie's house
One afternoon in October we visited my uncle Rob in Ruislip for a family gathering, (my cousin Maria's 18th) and Rafferty had fun playing with a football.

Rafferty and Emily
Rafferty and his little friend Emily.
