June 2002 :  11 to 12 months   Download times...
Rafferty finished his first year on the planet in style, and started walking a couple of weeks before his birthday. He quickly became quite good at this and was learning to moonwalk backwards as he turned one. We had a big party for his first birthday on a sunny afternoon, with all his family, godparents and baby friends. For the grown-ups there was the mandatory barbeque and plenty of champagne, while Raffy enjoyed his new slide and about a million toys given to him by his generous guests. Many thanks to all who came along and made it a very special first birthday...   Please note that in order to present large, high-quality pictures, this page may take almost a minute to download completely. The first few pictures will be visible quickly, but please have patience with the rest!

Raffy holds on to a tree, shortly before he started walking.
In early June, before he started walking. Here's the boy holding on to a tree in our local park, where we take him to play on the swings.
On the beach in early June...
A day out to the beach, near Margate. Getting the sunscreen on his face was proving to be a bit of a battle.

Yeah, look at me, I'm gorgeous...
Our gorgeous boy - this shot was taken on his first birthday. I have a feeling he will break a few hearts when he's older.

Climbing up his new slide on his birthday...
Climbing on the new slide that Ruth and Nathan bought him for his birthday.
Raffy got bored of simply walking, so he showed off his new tap routine...
Raffy got fed up with simply walking and decided to work out a little tap routine.
  ...and then shouted a lot.
And then went on to start shouting a lot...

Raffy & Dan on their first Father's Day...
Our first Father's Day: Raffy and I in the morning with the card he made me at the Day Nursery - on his own, of course...
Fearlessly climbing the steps to our patio.
Climbing the steps up to our patio. He's getting quite fearless, which is good for the future, but a bit worrying at the moment!
