July and August saw a number of important
events - Milo's arrival, of course, although pictures of this are
covered in their own pages of the site - and more birthday parties.
While the weather held up we had plenty of days at the beach, afternoon
barbeques and the boys spent as much time as possible outdoors. |

Raffy and Woody playing together at Claire & Guy's house in Broadstairs.
One of many pleasant summer afternoons spent here, enjoying the sun... |

Woody and Raffy again, playing behind Guy's boat. |

Mel Woodruff holding Max Weinel on a cool August afternoon; we had
a very pleasant time visiting Anna & Mark for dinner that day... |
|

Neil Underhill with his son Christian, not far away from his first
birthday. |

At the same afternoon, Monty enjoys a ride in the swing boat wearing
his Roman centurions helmet. |

Rafferty prepares for a future career in politics, wisely demonstrating
how he proposes to enforce his policies... |
|

The speech continues while bodyguards Emily and Monty scan the crowd... |

Raffy and Monty race downhill on Rafferty's new skateboard... |
|

Balancing seems to be Raffy's forte as he managed to stand up on his
skateboard at about the same time as learning to ride a bike without
stabilisers. |

Monty claims the skateboard.... "Mine!" |
|

A very contented Monty rolls down the gently sloping driveway. Both
boys were quite careful with the skateboard and managed to have a
lot of fun without skinning their knees and elbows too often! |

Raffy races past Grandad on his new bike. We hoped he would soon grow
out of the eyepatch thing... so 1980's Bond villain... |

Another shot of Raffy on his bike. |
|

Monty gets ready to take on his opponent in the fencing-with-plastic-swords
competition. |

The boys have a wonderful time making their poor grandfather stand
on a skateboard while they hit him with sticks from both sides. Oh,
the simple pleasures of childhood... |

Monty demonstrates his ability at swordfighting... |
|

...and follows up with a skateboard-assisted charge. |

Milo's first morning at home on 25th August 2005; Monty and Raffy
were beside themselves with excitement at seeing their new brother,
and have always been very gentle with him since.
|

Monty being beside himself with excitement, as described above. |
|

Monty thought he would try on Mummy's glasses. |

Shortly after Milo's arrival, the Holts came to visit. Suddenly there
were six children in the house and the noise levels went up slightly!
In this picture we have, from the left: Melissa, Ruth holding Juliet,
Monty and Nathan at the back, Charlotte, Vanessa holding Milo and
Rafferty. |

Melissa playing with an inflatable sign... |
|

The children play in our front garden with more inflatable signs. |

And, yes, another picture of the children with their inflatable signs.
|

The boys decided to bring every single wheeled toy out of the garage
and line them up outside the house. It's a boy thing. Military tactics
throughout history have all derived from the basic need of small boys
to line up their toys...
|

Monty helps Daddy tidy up the garden by carrying a large brick to
the garage.
|

Another summer afternoon with Claire & Guy in Broadstairs - they
have a huge inflatable pool in their back garden which was great fun.
|

A nice black and white shot of Rafferty in the pool trying a bit of
fishing. Not many fish, but several Thunderbird models and an occasional
Power Ranger were caught that afternoon.
|

We visited a farm open day in Wickhambreaux where the boys had their
first ride on a horse. It went very well - might have to sort out
some riding lessons in future... |
|

Raffy on horseback. |

Me, Anne-Marie, Michael, Raffy and Monty about to go on a tractor
ride along the farm track. |

Monty looks quizzically at something, pausing before eating his fairy
cake. |
|

The two brothers play with their radio controlled car, and Raffy shows
Monty how to use it. |
|

Due to local government spending cuts they had to use recycled wood
for the guillotine... |

An afternoon at the Broadstairs Folk Festival, where the morris dancers
of the world unite and bearded men in strange costumes prowl the streets
- a bit like Brighton, really. Anyway, this is Rafferty giving the
pantomime dragon a pound coin, helped by our friend Guy Topsom. |
