Any Other Business...
Let's talk about money... We still need to get the club finances sorted out. For the moment, we'll be paying for events on an ad hoc basis; although we have the club account set up, the standing orders for regular payment of subs need to be arranged. I might try to get this done at the next meal - whenever that is, but I don't think we should start collecting money until after the next summer weekend, which gives us enough time to organize things properly.
The Club Constitution is partially completed at the moment. Legally we do need one in order to take advantage of tax-free interest on our subs as a non-profit making organisation (which can be used to buy more booze for the weekends!). We'll talk about this more the next time we meet, and perhaps draw a final version up on the back of a napkin, or something.
A Brief History of the Club
The West Tytherley Gentlemens' Club is a reunion society established in June 2000. The founding event was Dan's stag weekend, which took place in the small Hampshire village of West Tytherley - hence the name. Many of the members attended Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital medical school together, while others were friends invited to the stag weekend - and an excellent time was had by all. The purpose of the Club is to arrange annual reunion events, where gentlemen scholars of good character may drink, be merry and take part in various frivolous activities such as paintball, karting and being generally silly. At present the events include a summer weekend of beer and paintball and a winter meal. Membership is free and by invitation only. This is a non-profit making organisation; all subscriptions collected are used to pay for events taking place in the year of collection, or accumulation of club assets.

 • Max and Tim visit Canterbury for first BBQ of the year...
I've just got a few pictures back from the other Sunday, when Tim, Filipa and Max came to visit for an impromptu barbeque. Everyone was looking well - especially Filipa, who is due to have her baby a week after Vanessa. Max is looking forward to being a dad, and is very busy with his new business, called In-Spa Retreats. They arrange short 'healthy-living' breaks with lots of naturopathic therapy, and it's going very well. Tim is fine, and is enjoying his anaesthetics. He's not going to Australia any more, but has changed his plans and will be travelling to southeast asia for three months in the autumn, instead. Here's a picture of the lads...

 • Nick running the London Marathon today!
Amazing as it may seem, our beer-swillin', kebab-eatin', Marlboro-smokin' Dr Sherwin is going to run 26 miles, all on the same day! He's doing it all for charity, man, and the baby Jesus. I've coughed up £26 so if any of you can see your way to helping out his good cause that would be nice. He has apparently been doing some vertical jogging in preparation for the event, as well as the more usual horizontal variety, so he might actually do the run quite quickly. Good luck, mate!

 • News from Izzy!
This is meant to be my study morning and I'm really not in a mood to study so I'm just emailing and browsing! Finally finished O and G in Feb, now doing my last 6 months reg job at my original practice. Such a breath of fresh air! No more nights, no more 'sorry I can't make Saturday night I'm on call'! Actually the honeymoon period wore off a long time ago! It's long days but at least I get to go home at the end of them! I'm working on my videos at the moment which is getting a bit painful. I'm sort of trying to do them at MRCGP standards on encouragement from my trainer who feels I can manage it. I'm not so sure but I'll probably submit them for October. I'm just gonna enjoy life for the time being! Anyway should meet soon as the spring and summer are upon us soon. Izzy
