At the end of the 4th year we had taken paediatrics, obs & gynae, and clinical pharmacology
finals in the space of a few months. Not surprisingly we were all tired, fed up and in need of a break. So in June we
rented a couple of cottages on a farm near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. It's a beautiful part of the UK with fantastic
countryside and great walking routes. There was a golf course across the road from our farm and the weather was perfect
all week, so we had a wonderful time. Nick Sherwin, Mat Thomas, Izzy Israel, James Coupe, Claire Barker, Ellie Chambers,
Cath Harrison, Hamid Tehrani and I all went along - Tim Hucker couldn't make it as he was abroad on a family holiday. |

We all met at Nick's family home in Sherborne before we set off. From the left we have: Izzy, Cath, Nick , Ellie and Hamid.

There was a chemical spill on the M5 as we drove to Ross, so we spent about 3 hours sitting motionless in a traffic jam.
People were setting up picnic tables in the centre reservation and playing stereos on the roofs of their cars. |

When we finally arrived in Ross, we were delighted to see the cottages were so lovely. It was a pleasant summer evening,
so we opened all the doors and windows, and sent people out for fish & chips... |

On the first evening, there were just six of us in the cottage - Cath, Claire, Ellie, Izzy, Hamid and I; the others would
join us later in the week. On the first night we set about drinking a lot of wine and played some Pictionary, which the
chaps won easily... |
