Alex Marshall married Melinda Cole in the Dominican Republic on Friday 22nd October 1999.
Not being ones to miss a good wedding, Vanessa and I flew out to join them, along with Rich Taylor and the rest
of the Marshalls - Shane, Hughie and Barbara. We stayed at the Luperon Beach Resort on the north coast of the island,
and a jolly good time was had by all. Congratulations to the happy couple, and also to Alex's mum Barbara for conquering
her fear of flying to make the journey! |

We arrived at the Luperon Beach Resort on Tuesday 19th October, in time for evening drinks around the pool. The next day
we were eager to check out the beach itself, which wasn't bad at all... |

The combination of free drinks and a bar in the pool itself meant that it was tempting to do nothing else but get quietly
plastered in the sun. Here, Rich Taylor, Dan and Shane Marshall demonstrate how this should be done... |

The hotel buildings set in a pleasant park complete with palm trees and small tractors to make those from Devon feel at
home. |

Dan & Vanessa relaxing by the pool (again) a couple of days into the holiday. Alex and Mel had already been here for
a week before we all arrived, and already had small brass nameplates securing their spaces at this bar! |

Some of the local artwork on display along the edge of the beach. While quite impressive, these were so overpriced
that even after a lot of haggling you still ended up being ripped off! |
|

Coconut milk cocktails were very popular, and served straight from the nut itself, once half a bottle of vodka had been
added. |

A picture of a yellow oil drum on the beach at Luperon. Who said the art of good writing is dead? |
