This eventful decade saw Mum, Nan, Grandad & I move to North Devon, where I spent most of my childhood; Mum married Dad, Vickie arrived, as well as Rachel and Jaccqueline (my cousins) and we all grew up. In 1979 we went to live in Dubai for five years, but kept our house in Devon to come back to. 1970: This is me as a rather pudgy toddler - must be about eighteen months old.

Circa 1972: Joan Horton (Nan) on a day at the beach in Devon.

Circa 1972: An early Hortonfest? A nice summer picnic with me (looking about 3-4 years old), Dave and Jenny Horton, Nan and Rachel on the far right, who would be about 2 years old.

1973: Jayne Horton (Mum) married Michael Szar (Dad) in September 1973 at the Civic Centre in Barnstaple, North Devon. They chose to combine their names, which is, of course, how we ended up as Horton-Szars.

Circa 1976: Rob & Maggie visiting Alf & Joan Horton in Devon; I think this is before they were married, but I'm not sure.

1976: Rob & Maggie's wedding day, in the summer of '76. Maggie is holding Vickie Horton-Szar who would have been only a few months old.
